Steve Lawson Have been a big fan of this album since I first got it about 15 years ago. Top drawer Canadian power pop that I was happy to rebuy just to get it in my Bandcamp collection (and replace the low res MP3 that I ripped from my CD copy before selling all my Cds!!)

Now, Peter, how about that follow-up? ;) Favorite track: Lucky to Breathe.

My crazy skydiver friends invest a lot in their good time They see it as a means to an end, not the end in itself Sometimes that means ‘til the end of the night Good times aren’t free Good times aren’t free Good times, good times My crazy skydiver friends will drink and dance the night away Don’t bother talking sense into them about change, now and here They’re happy when they have enough change for a beer CHORUS, SOLO They only ever notice the band when it’s time to go home But when the music stops they all go home alone CHORUS x2 Good times, Good times
3.
We are happy to be here When we can control our fear We all wish the world would let us be ourselves Let us out of our shells That makes us feel safe We all want to live in peace Though we never will agree We all raise a glass and toast the better life The duller side of the knife We hold to our throats We are living in a dream We sleep through our greatest scenes We won’t wake until we reach the other side Lucky to be alive Lucky to breathe Lucky to breathe Lucky to breathe
4.
Never Easy 03:30
It’s never easy But it’s not too hard Raise your voice so we can hear you What’s in your heart and mind It’s never easy Don’t think that out loud Take your stand on one leg only Don’t fall or they will laugh It’s never easy But it’s not that hard Plant your seeds and give them water Have faith the sun will shine

You passed her last night Outside of the men’s room, humming an old tune Maybe she wasn’t alone The time passes slow Your job is a bore, you’re waiting for more The weekend comes and it goes Where do you go When love’s all around you, but love can’t find you here Where do you go When love surrounds you, but love can’t find you here You hope to collide With the woman of your dreams, who is all that she seems You hope that you don’t get hurt You pass on the stairs She gives you a nice smile, you’re thinking she has style But you’ll never see her again CHORUS Here you are Standing alone in the shadow you made yourself CHORUS

Live Alone 03:41
Who turned your lights on, baby? Who put your finger on the pulse? If you would just listen, maybe I won’t do the tango while you waltz Into a new room, one where the ceiling’s on the floor I’m thinking that real soon You may see me waltzing out the door I want to live alone, I want to be alone I want to make a home It’s more fights than fun times lately We’ve gone past our date of best before This romance is feeling cagey Security feels more like a chore I need some more room, I need just to see some open sky Why can’t you see that? Why are you always asking why? CHORUS, SOLO I need some more room, I need just to see the open sky Why can’t you see that? Why are you always asking why? I want to live alone, I want to be alone I want to make a home One where I can be myself One where I won’t live with you

Growin’ a bit of a beard, and actin’ a little bit weird Talkin’ to myself again, little things become my friends But I’m thinkin’ bout waging a war against the ants Stompin’ the floor and chasin’ bugs Crawlin the walls and liftin’ the rugs It’s Leiningen vs. the Ants, here we go once again In Murray vs. the Ants It’s just me against the world They don’t do nothin’ to me but crawl around Drank all the wine I bought The food I got is starting to rot But I’m thinkin’ bout waging a war against the ants Stompin’ the floor and chasin’ bugs Crawlin the walls and liftin’ the rugs It’s Leiningen vs. the Ants, here we go once again CHORUS

I’m feeling like my body has a mind of its own Sometimes it leaves me all alone I can’t control the things it does to cushion the blows When harm is near it always knows How to keep me safe from harm It never fails, it never gives a false alarm Ears make wax, eyes make tears Drinking makes me older Eyes make tears and I don’t know why Why do they have to make me cry? It’s kinda like my body has a brain for itself It only uses just for health No matter what I do to try to stand in its way My body has the final say And it keeps me safe from harm It never fails, it never gives a false alarm Ears make wax, skin makes sweat Thinking makes me older Skin makes sweat and I don’t know why Why can’t it just let me be dry? Ears make wax Eyes make tears Skin makes sweat Brain makes fears Living makes me older

Angels 05:40
Searching for truth Is a man, who’s quite prepared to lie to himself Speaking of faith Is a man, who’s waiting for his dreams to come true We all need angels To help us save ourselves We all need angels To move the clouds and show the sun Pining for youth Is a man, who’s wasted all his time on regret Hunting for love Is a man, who doesn’t know his heart from his hand We all need angels To save us from ourselves We all need angels To move the clouds and show the sun Some only see their demons, when their angel’s near Some only hear their demons, when their angel’s near Speaking of faith, hope and love And all the things we hide in our hearts We all need angels, we all need angels – you are an angel

The Ark 04:52
Nubiles pair off on their way to the ark Life is fleeting Clouds moving in, hope for shelter is slim Time to play safe Don’t delay, find your way Get on the ark Pressure of time places heart before mind Where it should be (so they say) Winds signal storm and we have to keep warm Plan for winter Don’t waste time, save yourself Get on the ark Don’t delay, find your way Get on the ark BRIDGE No time to waste, although life’s not a race Don’t be dead last Clouds getting dark, no more room on the ark Where will you be?

I’m a heavy sleeper, when I wanna be I turn out the light, and sleep through the night Heavy dreamin’ I’m a heavy dreamer, yeah you know it’s true Eyelids are closed and plans are composed As I dream of you If I can’t have your eyes before mine I might as well dream ’em If I can’t see your face when I wake then I go back to sleep and I dream it I’m a heavy sleeper, yeah I do it well Put my head down and I’m down for the count I’m just floatin’ I’m a heavy sleeper I’m a heavy dreamer Heavy sleeper, heavy sleeper
